No Reservations, a television series hosted by Anthony Bourdain


The title of this has been translated into my language (Polish) as "bez rezerwacji" which means "without booking" or something along these lines implying that Anthony Bourdain gets himself invited to places without prior notice or arrangement.

Is this translation correct?

In my opinion the intended meaning is more like "without prejudice" or "leaping without looking" if you like.

It's a play on words. In the US we use "reservation" instead of "booking" at a restaurant or hotel. But the phrase "without any reservations" means that you support or believe something completely. Like "I have no reservations at all in recommending Mary for this job." That means you fully believe she is a good choice.

Because of this double meaning, it would be hard to translate it.
