I would like to know in which circumstances I can use the expression "NOT something BUT RATHER anything else" and if this expression is grammatically correct.

Welcome to the forum, Vitor.

Please write a complete sentence in which you think the expression may be used, otherwise we may think you are asking us to do your homework for you.

Hi,

first of all, thank you for your quick feedback.

Since I am not a formal student, but a self learner, I would like to evaluate the following phrase I have received from my boss in US: "I give you this not so we can be successful from Finance standpoint, but rather as a way to help you prioritize areas to address first".

thanks again,

Vitor

Do you understand what your boss's sentence means?
