Hello,

Is it possible to use the phrase 'be on good/bad terms' figuratively? I'd like to say the following thing:

Don't lend him your laptop if you want it back safe and sound. He's on really bad terms with computers and digital equipment.

I'd appreciate it if somebody could help.
Thank you.

Yes, it's a very apt personification.

 You can even take it one stage further, and identify computers as an intelligent actor: 'Computers and I don't get on'.
