Out of island -- IS it Correct ?

My country is an island. Can i say/can i change my status of online application as : "I'm Out of the island" when i go abroad ? is it grammatically correct ?

Usually that would be "out of the country". I suppose one could say "off of the island" and be understood. "Out of the island" doesn't work for me.

It's grammatical, but it's silly. I can't imagine which box on the application form you're going to put that phrase in. If you're not living out of Asia would you put your status as "In continent"?
I'd suggest filling in that field with the information that they expect in that field.

I have heard the phrase "off-island" but I would not expect it to be used on any official form. It doesn't necessarily mean abroad anyway. There are plenty of islands where, even if you travelled away from the island to a different island or to the mainland, you would still be in the same country.

As always, context is important. What you actually write might depend on the type of form you're filling in but I agree with the others that "off the island" or "away from the island" does not mean the same as "out of the country" or "abroad".
