What is the meaning of "with it out on my feet" in the following context:

A: IT'S SO BAD TO GET OLD, ISN'T IT?

B: IT BEATS THE ALTERNATIVE.

A: BUT MY EYESIGHT WENT FIRST.

B: I'M TELLING YA.

A: I HAVE TO READ THE NEWSPAPER WITH IT OUT ON MY FEET.

B: I KNOW IT.

Often, with age, people become long-sighted. What A is saying is that he has to stretch out his legs and prop the paper on his feet to be able to read it.
