I did some research, but I am not sure how correct the info is:
1. Over the next year - implies repetition
2. In the next year - single or repeated actions
3. For the next year - used to emphasize the duration

Different prepositions have different meanings.

Try to find a good set of nice and natural example sentences using each phrase, which will help you sense the differences in meaning.
 
"I will change jobs in the next year/ within the next year/ by this time next year" meaning a kind of time limit
"I will be living here for the next year" meaning continuously
"I plan to write two more books over the next year" kind of a combination of the two above, meaning effort is necessary over that time, vs "I plan to write two more books in the next year/ within the next year/ by this time next year" just emphasising the time limit which is just a single point in time
