Pandemic vs epidemic

I was reading an article and found the coronavirus mentioned as epidemic. Here is the source:

I have looked both words up on the internet and found that there is a difference between them. Pandemic was the right word to use there, right?

I think, after nearly a year of news about COVID, it's pretty much accepted that it's a pandemic. Note that you misspelled "epidemic" in your title. You still have time to change it. (Edit Post > Go Advanced > correct spelling > Save)
