Dear teachers,

Please read the following sentence:

The number to ring with your problem is 01, if you're outside London, two two two , two one two two.

My questions are:

If I live in London then I should ring 01. Is that right?

If I live outside London then it should be 012222122. Is that right?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance.

Jiang

As it stands, you ring 01 222 2122 if you are calling from outside London. Presumably you omit the 01 if you are calling from within the London area.

Incidentally, 01 has not been the dialling code for London for some time.

It wasn't about English language, was it?

It was about how something in English should be understood.
