Which of mind and mentality fits better? Does "mentality" not make sense in this context?

I 'd write: It makes our thinking more organized.
I don't see how the two parts of the sentences are related. Having a schedule and feeling compelled to do something are two different things to me.
 
Try:

It makes us more organized and better prepared if we have a well thought out plan. For example, if we have a study schedule we will study more effectively.
