Locally we pronounce it as "BARE" -- we do not stretch out the "y".How to pronounce the name of a pharmaceutical company called "Bayer" ?
Perhaps influenced by my knowledge of German, I have always thought of it as pronounced in the German way, vaguely similar to the English 'buyer', with a shorter vowel in the first syllable. I'd always assumed this was correct, but I haven't actually heard other native speakers saying the name.Locally we pronounce it as "BARE" -- we do not stretch out the "y".
I have heard other natives pronounce it differently. I have never heard "BAY-ER" (two sounds) for a point of reference.
