In Malaysia, most of our teachers pronounce gross profit with gross as in boss and loss. But all the dictionaries say it differently (rhymes with grows). Are they any native speakers who pronounce 'gross' like us Malaysians?

NOT A TEACHER

Boss and gross are pronounced differently. To support this claim, here's the phonetic transcript from the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English .

boss 1 S2 W3 / bɒs $ bɒːs / noun [ countable ]

gross 1 S3 / ɡrəʊs $ ɡroʊs / adjective

The prononciation is quite different, I know this from experience as well.

Not that I ever remember hearing.

No. "Gross" rhymes with "dose" and "glucose" more than "grows" (that is, the final "s" sounds like a hissing snake, rather than the "zzz" sound of a buzzing bee). The "o" has a long sound.
