ch as in church /tsh/
ch as in champagne /sh/

I believe most of the words adopted from French produce sh sound in CH: chauvinist, chandelier, penchant, chauffeur, etc.
The words that have to do with profession or science usually have k sound: archeologist, chemistry, architecture, chromosome, psychologist, etc.
SC: Sh in foreign words: fascist, crescendo (Italian) ...

I wonder if there is a firm rule to any of these cases. Even if there is, I bet we'll have to deal with lots of exceptions.
