Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
The Greek books were again out, and Grace…was put through his facings. (Trollope’s “The Last Chronicle of Barset”, chapter XLI)
put somebody through his facings = go through one’s facings = examine, test someone
