What is 'seo'?

Search engine optimization.

I'd never have guessed that in a million years.

If you are giving someone someone useful information, in order to help them to get their site ranked more highly on Google etc, then use "In order to get your site ranked [highly], you must do [at least some] SEO."

If you are talking to someone whose website is already ranked highly, and you are making a logical assumption about their SEO usage, then "In order to be ranked so high, you must have to do a lot of SEO".

SEO is always capitalised, as it stands for Search Engine Optimisation.
