IMPORTANT:
☆Only one poem per person, per family is allowed.

Question: How many entries can a family with 4 members submit?
A. One. B. Two. C. Three. D. Four.
The given answer is D. How to understand the sentence "Only one poem per person, per family is allowed"?

Where did you find that question? Can you provide a link?

If I meant "per person" I would say that. Why muddy the water by throwing in "per family"? Does it mean one person in a family or each member of the family? Does it mean each family may submit one or that each member of that family may submit one?

The given answer is D. How to can/should I/we understand the sentence "Only one poem per person, per family is allowed"?

It makes no sense at all. If the answer is D, the rule should be "One poem per member of family is allowed".

Note my changes above. If you learn nothing else from this thread, learn that we do not start questions with "How to".

That is where I get confused.
