I would like to ask if we can use 'my baby' or not.

Speaking to someone you love, you can use any words of affection you like. Who's going to stop you?

Longman made a serious error in not putting a comma between 'Relax' and 'baby'.

It doesn't sound natural to me.

Granted, we do say "my dear", so 'relax, my dear' would work, but for some reason 'relax my baby' sounds odd to my ear. It sounds like you're trying to tell someone to relax your infant, rather than using a term of endearment.

I guess it's because we also say 'my son/daughter/child', so 'baby' becomes confusing.


These sound ok to my ear with or without 'my'.
Relax, (my) dear.
Relax, (my) love.
Relax, (my) son/daugther/child

To me, these only work without 'my'.
Relax, sweetie. (Although you might hear 'my sweet')
Relax, honey/sugar
Relax, babe/baby
Relax, doll.
