Hi, Would you explain the different usage between phrases "report to" and "report into"?
Example: Mike will report into Sam with dotted line reporting to Jim.

It appears that you´re describing a chain-of-command in which one person reports to another. I can´t think of any situation where you would use report into.

hi,
Please note I'm not a teacher nor a native speaker;

The only situation I could possibly think of to use report into is when report is used as a noun, but more common preposition would be on.

The official report into the accident ....

cheers

:up:... I agree that 'report to' is vastly preferable, but I've sometimes heard 'report in to' (articulated as if it were three words).

Yes. For example, "report in to headquarters."

That seems to hit the mark!
