In the following sentence:

With a rush and gush, the house collapsed into its foundation

What does "rush and gush" mean?

It seems a way of saying "quickly, suddenly and exploding" but I think I miss something.

Thanks

Yes, you have th idea. I don't know how a house could "gush" when it collapsed, unless there was a mudslide behind it, but you have the right idea.
