Hello, I was wondering if you could tell me what "safe tidings" means. I found a couple of examples.

A high school student says that two junior students from his school died in a car crash last night.
Someone's reply: "I will pray for you and your school, and pray for safe tidings in the afterlife for your friends. I am very sorry."

"8 Tips to Help You Pick Out Safe Christmas Gifts for Kids"
"The holiday season is a joyous time for many families, and gift-giving is one way we express love and gratitude for one another. It’s always fun and gratifying to see a child’s face light up when they receive an exciting new toy, and if you follow these tips, you’ll feel secure knowing that you’ve given them the gift of safety as well. Happy holidays and safe tidings from Hossley & Embry."

Thank you.

It sounds very strange to me. My dictionary defines tidings as 'a bit of news'. I have heard of good tidings and glad tidings, but I don't see how tidings can be "safe". I urge you to not use this word pairing.
