Is there any difference between these two sentences?

She is in sales.
She is in the sales department.

Thanks

The first sentence means she has a sales job. (She sells things). The second sentence means she is part of the group of people (a department of an organization) that sells things.

Often, the meaning will be the same. Sometimes, it will not. For example, in the first sentence, she could be self employed; whereas in the second, she is part of an organization. Or, in the second sentence, she might work in the sales department but not have a sales job. Perhaps she's a secretary.

After the expiration of (the) three years from the date of the grant of the patent right, any entity may, in accordance with the provisions of Article 48 of the Patent Law, request the Patent Administration Department under the State Council to grant a compulsory license.

You seem to have answered the wrong question, Milton.
