Hi, trueheart!:-D
I suggest you try making a sentence of your own.

My idea:

............. she went to school, she went to the market.

or

She went to the market .............. she went to school.

Fill in the blanks.
Good luck!:-D

P.S. I don't think the 'past perfect' is required in your sentence.
'She went to school, and then she went to the market.' would be OK.

As you meant I must fill with the word "after". But according to the context, she went to shool before she went to the market. So we must use "past perfect" (She had gone to school...). That is what I think. What about you?
Thanks!

You could say "Before she went to the market she had been to school". I prefer tzfujimino's version.

Hello, trueheart!:-D
I've found a useful website for you.:-D:-D
Please go to : Past Perfect - EnglishTenses.com
and read "Use 1: A completed action before another action in the past"

I hope you can understand the 'past perfect' tense better.
