In my language, we have a saying that literally translates to "person Y is thirsty for person Z's blood". It means they really hate the guts of that person.

Is there a similar expression in English which suggests profound hatred for another person?

No. Someone might guess that you meant out for his blood, which has a somewhat different meaning as I mentioned above.
