Hi:

What does shifted to another quarter mean in the following passage? It is from the book The Asian Trade Revolution of the Seventeenth Century, by Niels Steensgaard, p. 221:

The latter possibility cannot quite be ruled out; his knowledge of Oriental languages and Oriental diplomatic practice was slight; he was dependent upon his interpreter, Michelangelo, who on a later occasion made known his opinion (either genuine or simulated), that is was solely Cardinal San Giorgio's mistrust of Sherley that had destroyed the great possibilities of the first embassy. But the question is merely shifted to another quarter hereby: could Michelangelo be in good faith?
