Hello everybody!

Suppose you have known your best friend since you were children.

How would you say that:

We have been friends since our childhood.

or

We have been friends since the sandbox?

What do you think?

Thank you

I would say:

We have been friends since childhood.

Or:

We have been friends since we were children.

In my opinion, the reason we here in Poland say "since the sandbox" is that many young children spend their time playing in the sandbox.

That makes perfect sense. We just don't use the expression in English.

I get it now, but if I had heard the sentence without the explanation, I might have thought that sandbox was a nickname for something like a school.

In BE, we call it a sandpit.
