Are my sentences proper English?

Even though nobody smokes in her floor, still the smell of cigarette enters her room.

So, whenever the guy on the upstairs starts smoking, the cigaratte oder carries through a vent and duct to her room.

Yes, they're OK.
"Cigarette" isn't a mass noun, so "smell of cigarettes" is better.

Smell of smoke could also be used.
