I have some questions about some common expressions used in classrooms:
1) Before a quiz, teachers may want the students to separate their desks and chairs so as to minimize any potential cheating. In addition to saying 'move / separate your desks a bit from each other...', what else can we say? Can we say, 'space yourselves out' a bit? 'leave a gap between you an your neighbours?'
2) There are air-conditioning in some classrooms and I was wondering if the following make sense:
- It's a bit cold here - let's turn down the air-conditioner/turn up the temperature
- It's a bit hot now - let's turn down the heater a bit
3) 'Take one and pass it on' is a oft-used phrase by teachers when passing a pile of handouts to the students in the front. What else can we say? 'dish it out for me, please'? 'help me distribute it. Thanks'? What other useful phrases can we use?
Thanks a million to all of you
