Hi. I'm writing some fiction.

A boy has just lost his parents in an accident. Two officers talk:
Officer: They asked us to take him to the hospital for an extra check, and then someone from Social Services will meet him there. I hope he has some other family who can take care for him.

Is it perfectly clear that I mean some other family members in this context and not a different family?

It's clear to me and I'd say it would be to most people.

[The sentence should end '... who can take care of him'.]

I hope he has some other family who can take care for him.

Is it perfectly clear that I mean some other family members in this context and not a different family?
If you intended the latter, you'd have to phrase it as something like "I hope there's some other family who can take care of him."

I doubt anyone would mistake your original version to mean some other non-related family.
