Some people think that large, impressive buildings are important for a city.

I found that sentence in the article below.

What I want to ask is: Shouldn't it be impressive, large buildings instead? I have studied the adjectives order, and I know that observation/opinion (impressive) precedes size (large).

i prefer the order in the original.

The adjective order lists are general guidelines, not firm rules.

OK, but can you please explain why this order is better in this case?

I can't satisfactorily.

I think it depends on the priority the writer gives to the attributes. In this case, the writer proritises "impressive" by placing it in front, which is logical because "being impressive" is the quality that is more likely to strike a beholder first.
