Could anyone explain the difference of "sorry for" and "sorry about"?

Sorry for suggest sympathy, pity or remorse.

Example:

He felt sorry for her.

Sorry about suggest concerning, regret or disappointment.

Example:

I am sorry about giving you bad news.

In a similar way, we can use sorry for to express responsibility.

Example:

Sorry for doing something.
