Hey,

I just heard the sentence in the title in a movie, with the context being that someone playing a video game gets interrupted by another person and loses. The other person then apologizes by saying "Sorry, I lost your game."

Is this colloquial? Have you ever heard this phrase and does it sound right to you?

I would have said "Sorry, I lost you your game." What about that?

Thanks,
Steven

"I made you lose your game" would be more proper.

"I made you lose your game" would be more proper.

Yeah, that sounds good, too.

But would you deem "Sorry, I lost your game" wrong?

I was an American who said that, so I guess it is heavily colloquial then?

Dave and I are both American, and neither one of us (it seems) would say that. Sorry you lost your game. - OK
Sorry I made you lose your game. -- OK
Not: Sorry I lost your game.

The wording is odd. If one is a member of a team and one is responsible for the team's loss, you might say "Sorry I lost the game." But if you are not playing, you can't really say that you lost.

That said, it is clear what the meaning is, it's just a strange way of trying to say.
