Hello,

Which one is correct to use?

This course is taught in German and spans two years/spans for two years"

Thanks.

"spans for two years" is incorrect. Although the version without "for" is grammatical I would use "lasts" rather than "spans".

Or the course takes two years. "Spans" is usually used for something physical, like a bridge spanning a river.

I think 'runs for two years' is also understandable, but I am not a teacher.
