Could you explain why the writer uses "stood" instead of "stand" in this sentence?

Ten Hag is stood on the touchline looking like he is watching a burglary unfold in his own house on camera.

'Stand' does not work at all.

'Is/Was stood' is not uncommon in some dialects of English for 'is/was standing'.

Sorry, I mean it should be "standing", not past participle as in "why are you just standing there?" Using the passive sounds a little bit strange.

What do you mean by "not uncommon?"

Such constructions are not unusual. They are examples of litotes.
