Does 'student accountants' mean students who are training to become accountants and are doing some accounting work as part of their training, not students who are studying accounting in college or university?

(Because the Thank and Like buttons don't work on my page, could I thank you in advance here?)

Not a teacher.

I work as a accountant trainee and study for Accounting. I guess 'student' in 'student accountant' is an adjective. The word student is describing the noun accountant so what you wrote might be correct.

Just wait for experts to answer.

No – they are accountancy students.

I got the idea because LONGMAN DICTIONARY says 'a student teacher is a person who is training to become a teacher and is doing some teaching as part of their training' (in the entry of student teacher).

And the phrase 'student accountants' I came across is taken from the COLLINS COBUILD USAGE in the entry of percentage:

About 20% of student accountants are women.

"Accounting students" is what I would hear in the US.

I am unfamiliar with the concept of "student accountants."

Yes, students studying to be teachers go into the classroom under the supervision of actual teachers, and are "student teachers."

There may be some "trainee accountants" but the idea of "student accountants" is unfamiliar.
