Does this "borne" mean "born=be delivered=give birth to" or "wear=take=have something"?

33)Anyone who has ever achieved any degree of success knows that nothing in life worth having comes easily.. Success is borne on the shoulders of commitment, discipline, and persistence. Yet our popular culture conveys a very different message to children: success doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming. P
 
It means 'carried'.

The sentence as written doesn't make much sense.
 
It's related to the verb "to bear", which means "to carry".
 
In medicine, we talk about tick-borne diseases. Those are diseases carried and transmitted by ticks.
