Can "take" be used instead of "receive" without any change in meaning in the following sentence ? Is this sentence correct?
This is the nicest present that I have ever taken.
 
No. It sounds like you stole it.
 
Thank you, this is what I was looking for. So it can have a negative meaning, can't it?
 
Yes. You don't "take" presents.

"This is the nicest present I've ever been given." is another option.
