I am wondering if I could use the phrase "tap into" in the following sentence:

1.If one is left alone and without help from others, one has to tap into his own inner powers.
2. The soldiers could have survived the war only by tapping into their strength and perseverance.

It's maybe not exactly what I would say but it sounds correct to me

As you have used "one" all the way through the first two-thirds of your first sentence, I would say "tap into one's own inner powers".
