Note that "dear" is an endearment that should be reserved for close friends and family, or at the start of letters.

If you want to direct a post to moderators, you can write "Thanks a lot, moderators." If you want to direct it to a specific moderator, use their username.

I asked this question was because the first fellow forum member used it without any addressing or title, for example, thank you, dear. Then emsr2d2 corrected him/her.

The second fellow forum member used it with a title-- dear + moderator. I was not sure if this structure was okay.

Now I got it.
