Are both A and B correct and natural in the sentences below? If yes, which is better, A or B? Thank you.

1. It was in Central Park (A. that B. where) I met John yesterday.
2. It was yesterday (A. that B. when) I met John in Central Park.

2. It was yesterday (A. that B. when) I met John in Central Park.

Both versions are correct. I prefer the "where" and "when" options.

The sentence would be simpler as: "Yesterday, I met John in Central Park" or "I met John in Central Park yesterday".

If you are simply talking about the time and place of the meeting, I find the 'that' versions more natural. If 'it refers to something else, then we have non-defining clauses, and 'that' is not possible.

1. It (the murder) was in Central Park, where I met John yesterday.
2. It (argument) was yesterday, when I met John in Central Park.
