Dear all,

Can you say "the advantage weighs the disadvantage the same" in advantage disadvantage essay?

Dear all, Unnecessary

Can you I say "the advantage weighs the disadvantage the same" in advantage/disadvantage essay?
No, and I don't know what you're trying to say. "The advantages outweigh the disadvantages" is OK but I don't know what "the same" is supposed to mean.

If the advantages does not exceed the disadvantage, can I say the advantages fail the disadvantage?
What is the other word(s) for "does not outweigh"?

We do not say "does not outweigh".
We say: The disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

Alternatives:

The disadvantages outnumber the advantages.
There are more disadvantages than advantages.
The advantages pale in comparison with the disadvantages.
There are more cons than pros.
It is more advantageous to do A than B (comparing two options).

Why do you need a synonym?

You really need to work on your use of the singular/plural with nouns and the associated verbs.

Can I say the disadvantages and the advantages are equally important?

The advantages equal the disadvantages. (or vice-versa)

However, neither that or Piscean's suggestion in post #7 address the issue of importance. They just state that there's as many of one as the other.

I find it very unnatural to phrase it that way. I might say, "The advantages outweigh the disadvantages." I would NOT say the disadvantages outnumber the advantages. It's not about numbers. If the one disadvantage is decisive it doesn't matter how many advantages there are.

Abe: There are a lot of advantages to having one.
Bob: They're just too expensive.

Abe: There are a lot of advantages to doing it.
Bob; it's just too risky.

(You might consider using benefits versus risks instead.)
