A popular blogger who shares extensive materials on studying American English online considers the pronunciation of the word gruelling without schwa in the middle of the word (likely referring to the American variant) the only correct one. I have looked up in a number of dictionaries and it appears that the pronunciation of schwa is also accurate in gruelling even if the American accent concerns - Is he right or not claiming this in
- 7:59?

He's correct from an AmE prospective. That doesn't mean it's incorrect in other variants.
