Can I use "the government's job" in an essay, or does it sound less formal and does "caring for the environment" and "part of everyone's routine" sound idiomatic?

Some people believe environmental protection is the government's job. From my perspective, caring for the environment should be part of everyone's routine.

I'd use "responsibility" in place of "job" and "everyone's responsibility" in place of "part of everyone's routine". Also, I'd use "In my opinion" rather than "From my perspective".

I think 'job' is okay for informal conversations however, and would certainly expect to hear it in casual conversations.

It's not the government's job to feed everyone.
It's the government's job to make sure everyone is safe.
