I want to say a place is so colorful and beautiful. Can I use "rainbow of colors"?

Are these okay?

1. The Lar Lake reflected the lights from the boats and was a rainbow of colors.

2. The Lar Lake reflected the lights from the boats and there was a rainbow of colors dancing on the water.

Is there a better way to express the idea?

Can it be used for a lake/sea like this?

The only thing I would say differently is I would say very instead of so.

Is that Lar Lake? It's beautiful!
Absolutely not! But I'm trying to describe a similar scene and wondering if "a rainbow of colors" would work.

Can I use it for other things too?

At night, Times Square became a rainbow of swaying colors.

Why are they swaying?

What lights do you mean? Billboards don't move - they're rigid structures with either paper advertising posters glued onto them, or digital screens.

The lights from the billboards that bounce off different surfaces move. Some of the billboards in this video appear to be rotating.

And what about this?

The orchard becomes a rainbow of colors in spring.

Orchards tend not to have that many colors. So that one doesn't work so well for me.

What about a colorful garden like this?

That is not a rainbow of colours. There is only one colour - green.

I see yellow, orange, red and purple too, but not the full spectrum of colours in a rainbow.

That's what I was thinking. There are some colors missing from that rainbow. (In fact, the sky isn't even blue. It's white. (What planet is that? ☺)
