Hi,

I have always confused with the usage of "listing date" and "list date".

The listing date of share "example" is 1900-01-31.
The list date of share "example" is 1900-01-31.

Are they all correct?
Is there any difference between "List Date" and "Listing Date"?

Thanks.

Tentatively I'd say that "listing" tends to be associated with the market in real property. Real estate agents (estate agents in BrE) refer to properties for sale as listings. "List date", on the other hand, is more associated with stock markets. Shares and other securites trade publicly on stock exchanges (New York, London, Tokyo, etc.) and people call the date they were first listed there as their list date. However, these are not hard and fast rules.
