Why do we go to university?
In South Korea, most people think they need to go to university. They think going to university will help their future life.
Compared to Asians, In the U.S, university is your choice. Going to college isn’t mandatory, so you don’t get stressed about this. In Asia, especially Koreans, parents always push their children to go to university. Because of university, students go to more than four academies for their school subject tests. When they are/turn 19, they finally take their last test(Korea SAT) for university. The parents pray to god for them to pass the test.
I agree that the university will take you to a better future because in Korea, when you graduate (from college), your probability of employment will increase because of that. I think most parents push their children to go to university but if you put strain (on them), it can backfire.
Some jobs need university graduates but others don’t. If they ask for academic background through recruitment information of the desired job, you will definitely have to go to university. But If they don't need the title of a university, you'll be able to (get the job/be hired) even without a university degree.
