Can I use "the rest of the money" or is there a word I can use instead?

"After the prepayment the rest of the money is used for additional projects."

the balance

I'm not sure what your sentence means, but you're probably looking for 'balance'.

I paid a deposit of 10% for my new dentures. The balance is payable when I'm happy that they fit comfortably.

Can I also use "a deposit of ten percent", "a ten percent deposit" and "a 10% deposit"?

In the sentence in post #1, you need a comma after "prepayment". Having said that, I'd probably expand that a little.

After the prepayment has been made, the balance/remainder is used for additional/other projects.

What is the context? It sounds odd to me that the balance is to be used for other projects.

The rest of the money does sound a bit gangster to me.
