Hi friends!

I'm reading a story from William Maxwell that name is ''The woman who had no eye for small details'' and I have some problem to understand these sentences:

1. The woman who had no eye for small details.
Is it mean the woman doesn't attention to small things?

2. She had good bones and beautiful heave hair.
Is it mean she's well-built?

3. Her house was was the last house on a narrow dirt road, deep in the country.
What is the mean of deep in the country?

4. She kept peculiar hours, and ate when she was hungry.
I can't understand the first part.

5. The eyes clouded by absent-mindedness, the sweater with a button missing, worn over a dress that belonged in the rag bag.

Thanks so much.

Hi friends!

I'm reading a story from William Maxwell entitled ''The woman who had no eye for small details,'' and I have some problems understanding these sentences:

1. The woman who had no eye for small details.

That's not a sentence.

Does it mean the woman doesn't notice small things?

Yes.

2. She had good bones and beautiful (Check "heave." It makes no sense here.) hair.
Does it mean she's well-built?

It means she has nice features.

3. Her house was was the last house on a narrow dirt road, deep in the country.
What is the mean of deep in the country?

Far from the city.

4. She kept peculiar hours, and ate when she was hungry.
I can't understand the first part.

Her daily routine was different than other people's.

Have you looked up "peculiar"?

5. The eyes clouded by absent-mindedness,

Have you looked up "clouded" and "absent-minded"?

the sweater with a button missing, worn over a dress that
belonged in the rag bag.

Have you looked up "rag bag"?

Thanks so much.

Hassan, you have the same questions posted here:

My advice: Look up words and phrases before asking us what they mean.

I note that you asked the same question on another forum.

In future, please do not post the same question simultaneously to more than one forum. Doing so wastes our valuable time. Instead, post your question to one forum and wait for replies. If you're not satisfied with those replies, you can try another forum, but please indicate in your thread that you've already asked the same question elsewhere (provide a link), and outline why you were not satisfied with the answers you received already.
