Hello! Which one is correct?
1. There is a star ON the top of the Christmas tree.
2. There is a star AT the top of the Christmas tree.

If it's balanced on the top of the tree, "on". :)

If it's attached to the tree towards the top, "at".

In case I wasn't clear, you're much more likely to need "at".

It really does depend on how it's fixed to the tree. If part of the star (or the support) fits over the vertical top branch/stem of the tree, then I'd use "on".

I don't agree. The star or angel is on top of the tree.

I would always expect an angel to be on top of the tree because we usually (very inelegantly!) stick the top branch of the tree straight up its dress! We lower the angel down over that bit of tree, hence "on". However, my friends use a star and they stick it onto that bit of the tree with sticky tape. To describe that, I'd say it's at the top of the tree.

Ah that's interesting. One of those things that need someone who's actually put up a Christmas tree to answer. I haven't.
