there was a break in the coverage" or "there was a lapse in the coverage"?

Jim's insurance policy was active from January 1ST of 2021 and it termed on March 2ND of 2021 and it became active again on April 04 of 2021.

Is it correct to say "there was a break in the coverage" or "there was a lapse in the coverage"?

Break is not common or clear. Lapse is the wrong word.
I would say "gap in coverage."

Lapse is a technical term in the insurance industry. There is a grace period after the due date for premium payment. If the premium remains unpaid at the end of the grace period, the policy lapses and coverage ceases.
