I bought a book called "How the immune system works" by Lauren Sompayrac. I thought it was an illustrated book but it turned out to be full of words. All the technical terms in it confuses me all the more. Today I met someone and he asked me this question when he saw I brought that book with me. I said the following. Is the italic sentence natural?

Mark - Silver, you are reading this book!

Silver - This book is too academic and the technical terms are not suitable for the general public, but medical students might like it.

This book is too academic and the technical, terms are not suitable for the general public layman, but medical students might like it.

There was nothing grammatically incorrect about your original suggestion but I can't imagine a native speaker using it, especially "not suitable for the general public".

I'd say something like "Well, yes, I'm trying to read it but there are too many technical terms for me. It's probably aimed at medical students".
