Hi there, can I shorten the following sentence like this?

1- This is John who is researching on black holes at the University of Tokyo.

2- This is John researching on black holes at the University of Tokyo.

No. You could use the second sentence (without "on" — see below) if you were describing a picture but not to introduce someone.

You just research something. There's no preposition.

Do the two following sentences mean the same?

- The Titanic is a romantic movie that stars Leonardo Di Caprio.

- The titanic is a romantic moving starring Leonardo Di Caprio.

Do the [strike]two[/strike] following two sentences mean the same?

- [STRIKE]The[/STRIKE] Titanic is a romantic movie that stars Leonardo DiCaprio.

- [STRIKE]The[/STRIKE] Titanic is a romantic [STRIKE]moving[/STRIKE] movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

See above. The film is not called The Titanic. It's just called Titanic. Put film titles in italics. There is no space between the two parts of his name.

Yes, they mean the same.
